Abstract

This chronicle of parliamentary activity aims to analyse the activity of the Parliament of the Canary Islands in the period January-July 2023, in the light of the functions of the Chamber, and to account for the end of the tenth legislature and the beginning of the eleventh. With regard to the autonomic order, it lists the different laws passed, new legislative initiatives, the status of the initiatives in process until the early dissolution of the Chamber, or the decrees passed, which is complemented with the citation of the resolution of the Constitutional Court that resolves an appeal lodged by the Canary Islands Parliament. In addition to the above, the main control activity relating to the period analysed is detailed: oral questions, general debate on the state of Canarian nationality, the examination of Government plans and communications sent by the Government. In particular, the early dissolution of the Canary Islands Parliament in April 2023 and the subsequent call for elections will be analysed. Finally, other parliamentary activity is referred to, which deals with the relationship of other bodies or institutions with the Chamber, or in matters of control of the principle of subsidiarity and proportionality, which closes with the authorising parliamentary intervention and the designation of senators representing the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
