The 2030 Agenda has assumed in recent years a relevant role in the actions of public authorities committed to the UN proposals in relation to global sustainability. In this sense, the Public Administrations, in order to face the challenges of the 2030 Agenda, have adapted their organization and have integrated the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into public action.
The commitment of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands to the 2030 Agenda is reflected in the 2030 Canarian Agenda for Sustainable Development, which requires the adoption of different measures to achieve its purposes. The transformation called for by the 2030 Agenda should imply the definition of a specific regulatory policy, articulated on the concepts of the 2030 Agenda, in general, and of the ACDS, in a singular way.
The Canary Islands Statute of Autonomy does not contain mandates expressly related to the 2030 Agenda or the SDGs. However, it is no less true that its articles reflect a clear commitment to sustainable development. To this end, it would be pertinent to review the Canary Islands legal system to determine if it is aligned with the SDGs or if it accurately contributes to the achievement of the Canary Islands goals that define the content of the Canarian Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030.
